Our Favorite Things to Do Near Downtown San Diego

Downtown San Diego is never short on things to do, which makes it one of the most unique and enthralling communities to live in. From buzzing coffee shops, amazing restaurants, waterfront views and music venues — it is hard to chose just one thing that makes it the best.

Popular luxury high-rise condos are available at every turn with breathtaking views and luxury amenities. Currently, there are 74 active condo listings in the area providing endless options for buyers. With varying locations, each luxury high-rise condo is unique. Our personal favorite is The Harbor Club, located in the Marina district of Downtown San Diego and steps away from Seaport Village, Gaslamp, and Petco Park. It’s one of downtown’s most sought after luxury high-rise buildings and offers an array of amenities including: a 95 ft. swimming pool and spa, BBQ area, fitness studio with sauna and state of the art cardiovascular equipment, 24 hour lobby assistance, secured parking and concierge.

In the heart of downtown San Diego lies the infamous Gaslamp Quarter. Whether you are new to SD or a local there is always something exciting to find here. The Gaslamp Quarter is a popular center for live music in San Diego — including the historic House of Blues, Sevilla for Spanish-style musical flair, and the Field Irish Pub for lively drinking music. The options are limitless! Festivals and block parties are found year around for Mardi Gras, ShamROCK, and the San Diego Film Festival.

The walkability of downtown San Diego is another amazing benefit of the area. Just steps away from central downtown, San Diego offers foodie haven, Little Italy. Restaurants such as Craft and Commerce that just recently reopened after a year remodel — offers a refreshing cocktail menu with delicious bites fueled by a wood burning stove and an executive chef. Additional noteworthy restaurants to check out in Little Italy are Bencotto for incredible Italian, Juniper and Ivy for a romantic date night, and Crack Shack for casual but addictive fare. During the holidays, Little Italy’s tree lighting ceremony is the perfect scene for a romantic evening or night out with the family – enjoy hot chocolate and biscotti while taking in the beauty of the lights around you.

In surrounding communities like the up & coming Cortez Hill, vibrant Hillcrest, affluent Mission Hills, and Coronado Island the options of activities only expand. On Coronado Island, Hotel del Coronado is a Victorian-style property landmark that combines the charm of old time San Diego with modern amenities. Coronado Island has beautiful, clean beaches that allow for a mellow day in the sand or an adventurous fishing trip! On the opposite side of the spectrum, Mission Hills is a quaint community with historical homes and great date night options. Mission Hills favorites include The Cinema Under the Stars, a premier outdoor theater that shows old movies, as well as Pioneer Park, well known for its history and popular summertime concerts.

As you can see, downtown San Diego and its surrounding communities have a significant amount to offer for a visitor or new resident to the area! The hardest choice will be which amazing community you chose to live in.
